Uber is a great option for disabled seniors who want to go out for hospital visits, shopping, and other things without relying on family members or friends.
Whether you are a wheelchair user or someone who needs assistance while traveling, Uber can help you with your traveling needs. Uber offers two options for disabled individuals; Uber Assist and Uber Access.
Before showing you how to request an Uber Access or Assist ride, let’s have a brief look at both options.
Uber Assist vs Uber Access: Which option to choose?
Uber Assist is an option for riders who need additional assistance in standard UberX rides. This includes older adults, riders traveling with assistance animals or foldable wheelchairs, and indviduals with visual and hearing impairments.
Uber Assist drivers have completed disability equality training and are well trained to assist you in all above situations.
Uber Access is Uber’s forward-facing wheelchair-accessible product. This is an excellent choice for seniors using non-foldable wheelchairs. Uber Access vehicles come with a ramp and the drivers are trained to help passengers get in and out of the vehicle safely.
